Unity Catalog & governance
One governance layer for access, lineage and data quality across the Lakehouse.
Without governance a Lakehouse quickly turns into a swamp. Unity Catalog gives you a single place for access control, lineage and quality, across every workspace. I capture the setup as Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, so everything is reproducible instead of disappearing into click-ops in a UI.
Governance as code is the difference between a setup you can explain and a pile of manual clicks nobody remembers the reason for. I capture catalogs, schemas, grants and external locations with Terraform: reviewable through pull requests, and identical across dev, test and production.
Permissions go to groups, never to individuals, with row filters and column masks where data is genuinely sensitive. Lineage and audit come along for free: from source file to dashboard, down to column level.
An audit then becomes a matter of showing, not reconstructing.
